A Refuge to Seek at Jomax Peak

It’s one bleak midday when my best buddies and I arrived in Don Salvador Benedicto. We alighted at the corner of the famed Jomax Peak in Barangay Kumaliskis after an hour-long scenic ride along Negros Translink Eco-tourism Highway.

Perfectly nestled up above the hinterlands, commanding a panoramic and unobstructed view of the lush mountains, Jomax Peak is a whole new chilly haven in Negros Occidental. Named after the former Mayor of Don Salvador Benedicto, Jose Max Ortiz (who we had a chance to see and converse with), this picnic ground was originally a family rest house offering a place for relaxation.

There’s more to Jomax Peak than affordability, sea of clouds and unlimited native coffee. It’s the exclusivity, far-off the city’s hurly burly. Relish a private access to its rustic yet topnotch facilities for a day (from 8am to 4pm), where one can surely experience serenity at its best.

Or you could consider having your special occasion, reunion or dream pre-nuptial shoot location in this natural, priceless setting, amidst a breathtaking pinnacle, whether at sunrise or sunset. Let’s take a quick tour!

This view will greet tourists upon arrival: The mini pool, celosia garden and a pathway to heaven.

The unassuming mountain ranges enveloped with sea of clouds (or fog for that matter).

Take a cue from Luigi (@count_gabz) who’s chillin’ like a villain

Say hello to the proud yet still active Mt. Kanlaon, bisecting Negros Island and highest peak in the Visayas.

Be charmed with Malatan-og Falls that draws tourist and adventure seekers alike.

Junfer (@iamjumper) about to do the “edging”!

The patio located at the back of the private rest house overlooks Malatan-og Falls as well.

Perched on the balcony overlooking the mini rice terraces comparable to that of Cordillera.

And then the pavilion where unlimited native coffee from Murcia is served. The following cooking equipment are also available for rent: grill with charcoal (PhP 150), butane stove (PhP 100), rice cooker (PhP 50) and a very kind caretaker named Jennifer who can help you cook all the food (Php 150).

And oh, this never-before-seen photo inside the cabin is exclusive only to special guests and friends of Sophia, the very accommodating daughter of the owner. ^_^

Disconnect from the world, commune with nature and spend quality time with your significant other, families and friends. There is no WiFi in the area but it promises a better connection in a real social sense. A countryside visit to Jomax Peak in Don Salvador Benedicto will be an avenue to strengthen your bond and personal connection with your loved ones.
