Danasan Eco Adventure Park: Best Outdoor Experience in Cebu

They say fill your life with adventure. Consistent with “You Only Live Once” mantra, going on some adventures permits us to indulge in extraordinary stuff, do crazy things and make the most of our lives. As for a self-confessed thrill-seeker like me, living by such phrase is a no-brainer as it fully encapsulates my ideals in discovering rad destinations by embarking on unexpected journeys. I can still remember how my first waterfalls chasing gave me an exhilarating feeling and a sense of fulfillment. I knew then that my heart was made to go on adventures.

Living in Cebu for almost fifteen years now, I can say that I’m lucky because there is always something for everyone. Blessed with abundance of natural resources and engaging activities, Cebu is such a big melting pot of eco adventures awaiting to be experienced. With so many things to explore in Cebu, you’ll be surprised that nature and thrill collide at one mighty verdant playground. Head to Danasan Eco Adventure Park and take on some real deal!

If a mountain getaway coupled with exciting facilities is what you seek, then Danasan Eco Adventure Park will definitely feed your adrenaline rush. Situated in the mountainside of Danao City in northern Cebu, Danasan Eco Adventure Park is a one-stop, lit place that offers 133-hectare natural diversity and action-packed landscape. Recognized as the Best Outdoor Adventure Experience by “SunStar: Best of Cebu” Awards for three consecutive years, Danasan Eco Adventure Park will surely give you more bang for your buck.

Here are some of the adrenaline-pumping activities lined up at Danasan Eco Adventure Park.

1. Sky Drop

Let’s start with the most interesting activity at Danasan Eco Adventure Park — Sky Drop. As the name suggests, you will experience a 130-ft. free fall from the heavens all the way back to the land thru a one-second pause swing back and forth.

Imagine being slowly elevated 120 feet high for more than three minutes. And when you’re already comfortable up above, you’ll be faced with a dilemma of pulling the trigger or not before you will be tossed down to the ground. It’s like falling from the sky that will scare a lot the hell out of you. Disclaimer: It might take a while to get your floating soul back on ground.

2. Sky Bike

If you’d like a chill ride up in the air, then Sky Bike is for you. Suspended 30 feet above the ground, it’s like balancing on a bike while pedaling down a steel cable back and forth. Thanks for this epic shot Em Smith (@emsmithcb)

3. Zipline & Horseback Riding

I’ve been to various ziplines around the Philippines, but, honestly, this is my first time to try zipline in Cebu. Excitement still kicks in while gearing up for a 440-meter aerial jaunt before me. Sitting position is available, alone or with a partner. While you are air speeding towards the other side of the hill, you’ll be rewarded with verdure views 50 meters below you.

Upon reaching the tip-most part of the zipline, the fun is not yet over. You may opt to try horseback riding or do short hiking going to your next destination with guidance from trained personnel.

4. Speedway

I have always been dreaming of becoming a racer someday. And this heart-pounding activity realized that dream of mine. I’ve learned the basic controls such as accelerator and brake.

You’ll gonna love speedway as you dash in its 600-meters track for four rounds. Looks like Luigi (@count_gabz) was riding on the right track and having fun.

5. ATV

This is by far my most favorite activity at Danasan Eco Adventure Park. As a cool rider of the all-terrain vehicle, you’ll brave through muddy and hilly trail inside the park’s vicinity for about 3 kilometers to experience the ultimate fun ride. I bet you’ll love ATV too.

6. Hiking & Sea of Clouds

Start your day with a trail hike to Danasan Peak. This goes to show that not all activities found at Danasan Eco Adventure Park are extreme ‘coz some let you embrace nature itself. Even if you are not a morning person, this tranquil natural spectacle may inspire an early wake up call. A short 20-minute walk-in-the-park will reward you with a marvelous view of the stunning sunrise and elusive sea of clouds.

7. Twin Tower Adventure (Wall Climbing/High Cable Traverse/Rappelling)

Who would have thought I can do wall climbing? I mean, I can’t even carry my own weight. Lol! For what it’s worth, I did a little scrambling up the 120-ft wall climb challenge that spells more than A-D-V-E-N-T-U-R-E.

When you reach to the midsection, you’ll know you’ve successfully climb half of the wall (around 60 ft). You may opt to go down if you will not continue to traverse the high cable, but what good is there in that? Personally, I’d like to challenge myself as to what I can accomplish, test my limits and break through. And so I did the High Cable Traverse. Coasting from tower to tower through a 150-ft wire for about 60 feet above the ground level is such a great “acrobatic” experience, yet the most feared to try by many.

And finally, hopscotch your way into the ground via rappelling. Don’t worry, the 60 ft height won’t scare you as you’ll be guided by the park’s professional personnel.

8. Wakeboarding

To be honest, this is my first time doing wake boarding. And it didn’t disappoint. It was a challenging jaunt so expect some trial and error. But as soon as you get the hang of it, then fun and excitement will kick in within the 60-meter water area that will last for two hours. Just hold on tight, you’ll be alright! Thanks for capturing this rad shot Em Smith (@emsmithcb).

9. Waterfalls Chasing & Rappelling

Going to the waterfalls is an adventure of itself. You’ll ride a large tractor that has a capacity of carrying as many as 10 people. For thirty minutes, you’ll enjoy a scenic countryside view before reaching the jump-off point of the three-tiered waterfalls of Danasan. When you reach the first level, take as much photo as it guarantees a picturesque natural sight.

Level two is much bigger with wider and taller cascade and offers Tyrolean adventure. You may choose to get to the last level through the carved steps carved on the hill beside it or rappel down the gushing water. Let’s take a cue from the master #AdventureGrammer himself Elei (@iameleimath)

10. Sunset Kayaking

End your day with a splendid sundown kayaking. The calm lake is your playground while the sun is disappearing below the horizon. You can try three-person kayak with your buddies or just kayak on your own, your choice.

The magical hues of the setting sun will definitely take all your worries away and soothe your aching body and soul. One word to sum it up -SPELLBINDING!

The fun-filled activities at Danasan Eco Adventure Park will surely satisfy your adrenaline craving. As the saying goes, you only live once, so use it wisely. Dare to live on the edge and let nature bring out your adventurous side!
