Cebu Pacific Offers Refund and Other Flexible Self-Service Options for Cancelled Flights

I was having a bad dream. I was giddy with delight knowing I’ve finally returned to Japan as scheduled despite the pandemic. For a minute there, I gazed awestruck at the beautiful cherry blossoms around me. How can that be possible when all my flights going to Japan were cancelled? It suddenly dawned on me that it wasn’t real. I woke up, slightly emotional. The harsh reality hit me hard. Now is not the best time to travel. I reckon that it’s okay to take a break from traveling, but it doesn’t mean to definitely break up with travel. Soon, once things get better, I know we can all take off again.

The country’s leading carrier Cebu Pacific is aware that these changing times have been very challenging for everyJuan—that is why CEB is offering flexible options and alternatives to ease the worries of passengers, especially those whose flights had to be cancelled due to the nationwide community quarantine.

Guests with Cancelled Flights from March 15, 2020 onwards

Among the self-service options that can be done conveniently online are: free rebooking, full travel fund, and full refund.

Unlimited Rebooking

By availing of this option, one can rebook their cancelled flight to any other travel date within three months from the original date, with no additional charges – both change (rebooking) fees and fare difference are waived.

This is perfect for those just waiting for the skies to clear, and still need to travel at the soonest time possible.

Full Travel Fund

Now should you choose to go for the full travel fund, the full cost of your ticket will be stored in a virtual wallet – said amount can be used to either book a flight up to two (2) years ahead, or pay for add-ons, such as baggage allowance and seat selection.

This can come in handy if you’re still waiting things out or if you are re-assessing your existing travel plans.

Full Refund

Finally, if you would opt to receive a full refund, processing of such requests will begin once the ECQ is lifted and regular work schedules resume. However, due to the unprecedented volume of requests for refunds, Cebu Pacific appeals for kind understanding as the process will take as long as seven (7) billing cycles.

This is suited for those who might need the cash for other purposes, and are putting their travel plans on hold.

How to Claim Refund for Cancelled Flights

Retrieve your booking in the manage booking Portal. If you have a getgo account, log in using your email and password. If you booked a flight as a guest, then use your booking details by entering the booking reference number and your surname.

Select the affected flight booking(s) and click on the “Manage” box.

Please note of the notice highlighted in blue, regarding the changes of your flight schedule(s). You will then be presented with the flexible options. Since this is a refund procedure, select the “Refund” box.

A reminder box will prompt informing you that refund processing may take several months and a better alternative is recommended which is to avail of the travel fund. Again, this is a refund procedure, so proceed to “Refund Request”. However, if you change your mind, then select the convert to travel fund option.

Finalize your refund request by reviewing the refundable amount portion and if you are satisfied with it, click Continue.

Finally, a confirmation will appear that your booking has been successfully cancelled and refund is now on queue for processing. Please note of the four (4) billing cycle period for your reference.

In addition, in case you are wondering if your refund request has been approved, you will receive an email regarding this. If you didn’t receive any email for a week, you may contact Cebu Pacific through a direct message on their official Facebook or Twitter pages or Call Center at (+632) 70-20-888 or (+6332) 230-8888. For additional information, as per Cebu Pacific’s travel advisory, the processing of your refund will commence once the Enhanced Community Quarantine is lifted.

Update as of December 16, 2020

Exactly seven (7) months after the refund request, I received an email from Cebu Pacific that my refund has been forwarded to the bank.

Update as of March 18, 2021

I’ve been religiously monitoring the refund since receipt of such email above. However, I failed to communicate the same to my issuing bank for I thought it will automatically be credited back to my credit card. Three months passed and I felt that the refund is still not being processed, leading me to reread the procedure regarding the crediting process.Truly so, I really missed out on something and what I did next was to coordinate with Metrobank and inquired on the status of the charge back.

Upon checking my account, I can now finally see that the Cebu Pacific transaction has already been credited back. I’m just so relieved as of writing. Thank you Cebu Pacific and Metrobank!

Guests with Voluntary Changes on Flights until June 30, 2021

Additionally, Cebu Pacific’s commitment to its customers doesn’t end there. For added flexibility, passengers with booked flights up to June 30, 2021 who wish to voluntarily change their travel plans, have the following options, all free of charge:

Unlimited Rebooking to any other travel date as many time as possible, with change (rebooking) fees waived, but fare difference may apply; or opt to convert full cost of the ticket to a Travel Fund, which is now valid for two (2) years! This allows you to decide and book your travel within a year for flights as far as one year ahead – gives everyJuan added peace of mind in these unprecedented times.
