Island Escapade Tour: Triple Beach Treats in Coron, Palawan

Part of the wondrous Calamian Group of Islands, Coron takes pride with its crystalline bodies of water loved by diverse tourists, divers, and all the pacific islander in us. To marvel the splendor of what Coron’s seascape has to offer, private and joiner island hopping tours are being offered for visitors of Coron to choose from.

The first time I visited Coron in 2018, I failed to try the Island Escapade Tour due to lack of time. With a lot of things to do and attractions to see around Coron, Island Escapade Tour gloomily didn’t make it to the cut of our 4D3N itinerary. It was kinda frustrating to know what I greatly missed on my first Coron Trip. I knew then in my heart that visiting Coron once was never enough.

With Cebu Pacific Air offering direct flights to Coron direct from Cebu, exploring more of Coron is easier more than ever. And so, I decided to come back and this time, I made sure to include the Island Escapade Tour featuring triple beach treats in Culion group of islands: long stretch of powdery sand of Malcapuya Island, relaxing Coco Beach of Bulalacao Island and the renowned sandbar of Ditaytayan Island.

Malcapuya Island

We prayed for a good weather in Coron and indeed our 1.5 hours sea journey to Culion area was very smooth sailing. Our boat docked at the back of Malcapuya Island and hiked for about five minutes to reach the other side of the island where the beach is waiting.

Upon arrival, the sand of Malcapuya Beach was already glistening brightly. It is as powdery and as white as those of Boracay Island, I guessed. Even though there are residents living on the island, the beach was well maintained and there wasn’t any trash or seaweed scattered around. A good point for Malcapuya Island.

Up above with the help of some some drone shots, you can see the long stretch of white sand beach. You may not noticed but Tampel Island is also waving at you at the far side of the island.

There is no resort nor accommodation in the area. Coconut trees are lined up at the beach giving shade to the island goers. There’s a tree at the middle of the beach that’s breaking the pattern of the all-beach seashore. But who cares? I find it instagram-able!

And I’m talking about this particular tree! The branches extends out towards the shallow blue sea providing a perfect frame for your shot. Be careful in climbing though.

We stayed at Malcapuya Island for about two hours. My family really enjoyed the scenery, most especially the fine-grain sands of the beach. The water is so clear and inviting, it’s hard to say ‘NO’ to swimming.

Coco Beach (Bulalacao Island)

The next stop of the Island Escapade Tour is Coco Beach. It is a relaxing place to stop for lunch, just perfect for those who’d love to just enjoy the noon break.

There’s a lot of coconut trees in the area giving a natural shade for the visitors. For all we know, it could be the reason why it’s called Coco Beach.

Coco Beach graced a little secret oasis in the middle of a hot and sandy island. Cottages are built around the area for guests to fully enjoy their lunch break. It is made of light and natural materials which is inspired by our Philippine nipa hut.

Lunch is of course already included in the tour package. A hearty meal will be prepared by the boat crew with our Pinoy favorites such as grilled pork, fish, crabs, fried chiken, chopseuy and banana for your family to enjoy.

Coco Beach offers several hammocks for people to lay and rest. Snorkeling area is right in front of the beach just a few feet and you can already see an amazing underwater biodiversity.

During peak season, it gets crowdy but don’t worry, no need to bring your own hammock because there’s plenty of relaxing spots for everyone. There are also rooms available if you decide to stay overnight in the island.

After almost two hours of lunch and rest at Coco Beach, we headed to our last but definitely not the least destination.

Ditaytayan Island

Ditaytayan Island’s sandbar is one of the spots worth visiting in Coron, aside from the famous Kayangan Lake and Twin Lagoon. This sandbar attracts both locals and tourists alike not just during summer but all throughout the year. Approaching Ditaytayan sandbar, you’ll be rewarded with such beauty – a visible strip of white land mass – glimmering at the tail end of the island. It is actually a long strand of sweet sugary sandbar confined in an azure waterscape.

And if you’re lucky, you can have the pristine paradise all to your own. At Ditaytayan Island, you can surely run freely from the beach to the end of the sandbar, swim around and meet other guests, eat seafoods, feel the sea breeze on your face and enjoy the charming tropical environment.

Have a quick fix away from the hustle of the town with a tropical escape offering shallow super clear waters and white sand formation extending out from the islet. This beach destination is the one you shouldn’t miss!

Our Island Escapade Tour ended with a fun photoshoot with my family. They were all thankful that we included the Island Escapade Tour during our Coron trip. Indeed, the family that travels together, stays together.
