Cebu Pacific Air Flight Cancellation, Rebooking and Travel Fund Options: A Step-By-Step Guide

Positive, the first quarter of 2020 presented us with new and unforeseen challenges. With the looming risk of acquiring or spreading Covid-19, a new coronavirus affecting millions across the globe and declared by World Health Organization as pandemic, to be vigilant is key in winning this blind war. Covid-19 is totally taking a toll on everyone, from businesses to studies, from telecommuting set-up to political stand, from health to personal dilemma with upcoming trips. Nobody knows how bad it could get but one thing is for sure ~ Covid-19 is messing up with everyJuan‘s travel plans.

The aviation industry, which is one of the most affected group, is striving to remain hopeful, positive and resilient at the forefront of innovation including new health and safety mechanisms, as people are gradually adapting to the new normal. As the leading low-cost carrier in the Philippine’s air transportation industry, Cebu Pacific understands that passengers may be feeling uneasy about traveling because of Covid-19 so they provided some helpful measures taken so we can all travel with peace of mind.

As per Cebu Pacific Travel Advisory, various flights for a certain period and routes are cancelled due to government regulations on COVID-19. You may check status of flights here. With this, Cebu Pacific is providing passengers traveling from March onwards to ALL domestic and international routes with the following options for more flexibility:

TRAVEL FUND (Updated as of January 07, 2021)
You can place the full cost of your ticket in a virtual wallet with CEB. This is applicable for flight bookings up to March 31, 2021. Travel fund is valid for two (2) years and can be used as payment for future bookings as far as 2022 and fly in 2023. (See illustration in “How To Use The Travel Fund” section below).

For customers with existing Travel Funds, the two-year validity will be applied retroactively, or from the date the fund was created.
UNLIMITED REBOOKING (Updated as of January 07, 2021)
You can avail of unlimited rebooking of flights, without paying any rebooking or change fees. A minimal fare difference may apply.

For voluntary changing of flights (booked up to March 31, 2021), passengers can now rebook their flights as many times as possible, up to two (2) hours before scheduled flight.

If your flight is cancelled by Cebu Pacific (involuntary on the part of the guest), new travel date selection is within three (3) months from original flight date, at absolutely no additional cost – both rebooking fees and any fare differences are waived.
FULL REFUND*
Refund will be made in the original form of payment (e.g., credit card, cash in ticket office, etc.). For debit or credit card, full refund may take up to seven (7) billing cycles or longer.

*APPLICABLE FOR INVOLUNTARY FLIGHT CANCELLATIONS ONLY; (E.G., FLIGHTS AFFECTED BY PH/LGU’S IMPLEMENTATION OF COMMUNITY QUARANTINE OR AIRLINE’S OPERATIONAL CHANGES)

HOW TO PROCESS A TRAVEL FUND

As a #BaryaHero, I chose the Travel Fund option to secure a digital budget as immediate payment for more flights in the future. I can totally say that converting cancelled flight bookings to Travel Fund is a breeze especially with the help of online connectivity. With this, sharing with you a step-by-step guide on how to electronically process rebooking or cancellation of your Cebu Pacific flight and store it in a travel fund at the comfort and safety of your own home.

STEP 1: Visit Cebu Pacific Air’s official website, sign-in and go to “Manage Booking”

This is self-explanatory. You may do this via laptop or smartphone, for both website and mobile application. If you don’t have a GetGo account, go to Manage Booking portal and retrieve your booking using your booking reference number and passenger’s surname.

STEP 2: Select your flight booking(s)

When you’re already in the “Manage Booking” portal, select the applicable flight booking or bookings that you wish to cancel by clicking the “Manage” option. Please note of the flight cancellation coverage: March 10 to May 31, 2020 (extended for voluntary change of flights until March 31, 2021).

STEP 3: Select Purchase Add-Ons, Change or Cancel Flight Tab

Tick the appropriate “Cancel Flight” box. Read the reminders. Please note that this is a special option provided by Cebu Pacific due to Covid-19 so even if your flight is booked during a promo or special fares, flight cancellation is still applicable. Then click “Continue”.

Should you wish to rebook the flight, tick “Change Flight” box. Follow the instructions.

STEP 4: Cancel Flight

Tick the corresponding flight you wish to cancel. Please note that changes will be applied to all passengers in your current booking. Click “Continue”.

STEP 5: Agree to Travel Fund Terms and Conditions

Note that you are now in the “Cancel Summary” tab. Review the Total Booking Amount, including any deductions, and Total Travel Fund to ensure that the full cost of the ticket is equal to the amount to be transferred in the travel fund. It’s highly important to read the terms and conditions of the Travel Fund for your reference.

  1. Travel Fund is offered to the guest upon flight cancellation.
  2. The amount will be net of applicable penalties.
  3. This is valid for 2 years from the date of Travel Fund creation.
  4. Using the web, a single Travel Fund may be created for one booking. Guests are advised to contact our Call Center at (632) 70-20-888 if the booking consists of multiple guests and they wish to split the amount and create one Travel Fund per guest.
  5. Two (2) separate bookings cannot be combined to create a single Travel Fund.
  6. Travel Fund is associated with the guest’s booking reference and not with the name of the guest.
  7. Travel Funds may be redeemed via the following:
    • Cebu Pacific Call Center (632) 70-20-888 or (6332) 230-8888
    • Organic ticket offices
    • Organic airport service desks
    • International general sales agents and wholesalers
  8. Travel Funds may be used to pay for the following:
    • Ancillary products
    • Fees/ penalties/ taxes
  9. Travel Funds may be redeemed only by
    • Anyone in the record (for single funds)
    • Individual holding the fund (for split funds)
  10. Guidelines on use:
    • If a guest has multiple Travel Funds, he may combine these funds and apply to a single transaction.
    • If amount in fund is greater than the amount to be paid, the balance may still be used to pay off guest’s another transaction provided that the Travel Fund is still valid.
    • If amount in fund is less than the amount to be paid, guest may make additional payment using another form of payment.

If you agree with the above-listed Travel Fund provisions, please click “Continue”.

STEP 6: Travel Fund Confirmation

If you’ve reached this far, then congratulations! Your booking has been successfully stored in a travel fund. You may check your email notification from Cebu Pacific, acknowledging receipt of your request to cancel your booking. Likewise, you may find in the attachment the Itinerary Receipt of the booking you have cancelled.

Should you wish to convert another flight bookings into a travel fund, just repeat steps 1 to 6 above.

HOW TO USE THE TRAVEL FUND

Before you use your travel fund, read first the instructions of its usage, timing and applicability. You’ll receive a confirmation from Cebu Pacific email indicating such relevant information.

Now that you already have a travel fund and you want to know how to use it as payment for a new flight booking from Cebu Pacific Air, then follow these simple procedures for your reference. Here’s how:

STEP 1: Search and Select Flights via Cebu Pacific Air’s home page

Visit Cebu Pacific official website and log-in to your GetGo Account. As per usual process, start your booking by searching for a flight (domestic or international) and selecting your preferred travel date and departure time. You can view the booking summary on the right side, with details on the chosen flight, basic fare, taxes and fees and total booking so far. You may then proceed with filling up the passengers information and continue on the add-ons section.

Speaking of basic fare, the sample booking is actually bearing a PISO FARE for international flights (e.g., Cebu to Tokyo round trip) because Cebu Pacific is having periodic seat sale promos featuring Piso Fare seats and more deals. If you want to score cheap flights for as low as PISO (1) base fare, then uncover some effective secrets here: PISO FARE TRAVEL HACKS

STEP 2: Add CEB Flexi (FOR FREE)

Get worry-free when you travel as Cebu Pacific is offering FREE CEB FLEXI for new flights booked from March 11, 2020 until March 31, 2020. This waives the rebooking fee and allows for up to two (2) FREE rebookings. Simply select CEB Flexi add-on during booking.

In addition, if you want to travel smart and secure your trip for a minimal fee, Cebu Pacific is offering a travel insurance a.k.a. “cebtravel sure“. Get covered when you buy cebtravel sure for your trip.

STEP 3: Review Booking Summary

This is a standard procedure before proceeding with the payment. Review every detail in your booking for any error or additional information. If satisfied with the accuracy of the flight information, please tick the “I HAVE REVIEWED MY BOOKING SUMMARY” box to proceed with payment.

STEP 4: Use Travel Fund As Payment For Your Flight

You are now in the payment stage. By default, you will see the credit card/debit card initially. To use the travel fund, select the Travel Fund tab (5th and last tab to the right). Provided you’re logged-on to your GetGo account, you’ll see your travel fund balance and how much will be used in the booking. If you’re a non GetGo member, your Travel Fund will be stored under your booking in Cebu Pacific’s system. You can redeem through agent-assisted channels/hotline (+632-87020-888). Ticket offices will reopen once the ECQ/MECQ/GCQ is lifted.

Please note on the guidelines for travel fund use as follows:

  • It is non-transferable. Travel Fund is associated with the guest’s booking reference and not with the name of the guest. Meaning, you cannot use the travel fund to book flight for another passenger(s), unless you are one of the traveling passenger(s).
You will be redirected to the credit card/debit card page for you to proceed payment of the balance.

STEP 5: Flight Confirmation

Congratulations, you’re all set to enjoy your trip soon! You may check your email for the Cebu Pacific Itinerary Receipt for reference.

Hi! How about if I did not sign in since I do not have an account? I went directly to manage booking and entered the reference, then cancelled it and it was successful. Then I tried sample booking, but I do not see travel fund in payment option. What should I do?

    • vivomigsgee

It can be found in the last tab (to the right). Please make another booking up to payment option to check if it’s already reflected.

        • vivomigsgee

Yes. You can request to refund your Travel Fund, if ALL conditions below are met:

a.) Flight was cancelled by Cebu Pacific starting March 15, 2020 to July 31, 2020; b.) You converted your booking to Travel Fund AFTER your flight was cancelled; and c.) Your Travel Fund remains unused after one (1) year validity

          • Borna May Silva

Can I still refund cash my travel fund even if it’s not cancelled by cebupac on it’s own? I just recently booked and cancelled it. Thank you.

          • vivomigsgee

Refund is only applicable when Cebu Pacific voluntarily cancels your flight. Otherwise, Travel Fund and rebooking lang ang available if involuntary cancellation.

          • She

hello, can I refund my travel fund even if I cancelled it voluntarily on march 2020 when the gov’t announced that all flights will be suspended and wait until further notice due to covid?

          • vivomigsgee

Yes. You can request to refund your Travel Fund, if ALL conditions below are met:

a.) Flight was cancelled by Cebu Pacific starting March 15, 2020 to July 31, 2020; b.) You converted your booking to Travel Fund AFTER your flight was cancelled; and c.) Your Travel Fund remains unused after one (1) year validity

      • vivomigsgee

I think it is necessary that you sign-in to your GetGo account. Travel fund is electronically stored in your account.

    • vivomigsgee

Hi Zee and Gloria, if you’re a non Get-go member, you can redeem through hotline (+632-87020-888). Ticket offices will reopen April 15 onwards.

          • arnel ramirez

Hi, does that mean I’ll have to wait for my travel fund to expire before I can request for refund? (Ex. my travel fund expires on 09 Sep 2020, when can I request for travel fund?) Thank you!

          • vivomigsgee

The travel fund is now valid for one year. When it is unused after the validity period, you may request for a refund thereafter.

  2. Ishi Boo

What will happen to the amount deducted from the Total Amount to be converted (i.e. Taxes and Insurance)? Will they be forgone?

  3. itzie

Can you use the travel fund right away on any dates right after they resume flights? Can it be applied asap within the 180 days travel fund validity + extra 12 months out if you have no dates yet?

    • vivomigsgee

Yes, you can use the travel fund right away. Even before the community quarantine in various cities/provinces were issued, some guests already booked flights using the travel fund. Consequently, it can be used as payment for flights operating after the community quarantine are lifted. And yes, it can be applied ASAP. Say for example, you converted the travel fund last March 15, 2020, so the last day you can use the TF as payment for new bookings is on September 10, 2020 (180 days) for travel valid until September 9, 2021.

  4. Arianne

How long does it take to reflect on your account? I just cancelled mine today, and when I tried to book for another flight, the TF still isn’t there so I could not proceed. 🙁

    • vivomigsgee

Do you have a GetGo Account? If so, then the travel fund is already in your account and can be used as payment for your new flight booking.

  5. Chevi

I have a flight from Cebu to south korea, Am I able to apply and use travel funds for flights to south korea later on in the year is the travel fund still valid for those flights?

    • vivomigsgee

You may use your travel fund to book for your next trip. You have 180 days to use the travel fund for up to 12 months travel period validity. So for example, you converted your flight to travel fund on April 10, the last day to use your travel fund to pay for new flight bookings is on October 9, 2020 with travel period validity up to October 9, 2021.

    • vivomigsgee

If you’re a non GetGo member, your Travel Fund will be stored under your booking in Cebu Pacific’s system. You can redeem through agent-assisted channels/hotline (+632-87020-888). Ticket offices will reopen once the ECQ/MECQ/GCQ is lifted. Hope this helps.

  6. Evangeline

Hi, can you please guide me how I can rebook my ticket instead of July 2, 2020 I want to rebook it on July 22, 2020. I tried it already but showing error authorization. Can I send me a step by step procedure. I don’t have the get go account I’m just doing it through Manage booking.

    • vivomigsgee

I’m not sure why it is showed “error authorization”. I haven’t encountered such issue. To be sure, you may contact Cebu Pacific’s customer service representative (via hotline) for prompt fixing of technical issues.

  7. charmee

Hi, I cancelled a my flight from davao to iloilo for july 1, 2020 but its not reflecting on my travel fund yet. I hope you can help me.

    • vivomigsgee

Do you have a getgo account? you can view it during payment page. If you don’t have one, you may call the Cebu Pacific hotline as it is in their system

  8. Jaypee

Good day, problem redeeming Travel Fund. GetGo account used is from my sister but the booking that was cancelled and converted to Travel Fund is under my name. How can I use it to re-book again a flight under my name? I tried transacting through the CebuPac portal but travel fund is not showing on the payment section. Need help please. Thank you.

    • vivomigsgee

Hi Jaypee, as per Cebu Pacific guidelines, Travel Fund is non-transferable. It is associated with the guest’s booking reference (GetGo account user) and not with the name of the passenger. Meaning, you cannot use the travel fund to book flight for another passenger(s), unless the owner of the GetGo account is one of the traveling passengers. In your case, you can book a flight provided your sister is in the ticket (whether or not she will join you during travel). Hope this helps.

  9. Unice

Good day! May 6k+ akong travel fund after po po nag book ako ng ticket sa payment options click ko ang travel fund bakit po ang nka lagay zero balance at the travel fund is non transferable eh same passenger na man.. please need help po

      • Unice

Thanks ulit & gdbless you po..

        • vivomigsgee

Good to know na ok na. Ganun po talaga ang policy ng travel fund, need na yung getgo account owner is kasali sa flight booking whether or not tutuloy xa sa actual travel date mismo.

          • vivomigsgee

Walang problema yan. Even nga nagkamali isang letter sa name pwede pa pero kapag dalawa na, may konting bayad na ata ang pag-fix ng name

    • vivomigsgee

Hello Rench, my answer would depend on the situation. If I booked a piso fare flight to Melbourne, Australia and I know it might not be offered very soon, then it would be a waste to have it refunded. In this case, although not in the choices, I would have it rebooked until I can finally fly out. I normally convert my cancelled bookings to travel fund since I always book flights that are on sale every month. I am committed to travel whenever it is allowed that’s why having a digital wallet can help you effienctly snag that coveted hot fares. If you don’t see yourself flying in the next twelve months or more, then it’s best to have it refunded. Hope this helps.

  10. Philip

I have a flight to Korea that i want to cancel and add to the travel fund. What does the clause “Total cancelled amount will be stored in a travel fund except for Korea flights.” mean? Can’t I cancel the flight and add to my Travel Fund?

    • vivomigsgee

Hello Philip, the reason for cancellation is due to a special condition (e.g., Covid-19) so Cebu Pacific is giving a recovery flight option to cancel your flight and convert it to a travel fund. I also have a South Korea flight which I successfully cancelled and converted to travel fund. If you can wait for the official cancellation notice email from Cebu Pacific, it would be better.

  11. Rosemarie A. Sumatra

Hi if ever I will use my travel fund but the cost of fare is lesser than the TF that I have, can I still use the balance on my future trips? Thank you.

    • vivomigsgee

Yes, if ever the cost of your new flight is lower than your travel fund, the remaining balance can still be used for future flights.I hope this answers your question.

  12. Teresita M. Cruz

I requested for travel fund on April 24, 2021 for me and my husband. But as of today, I have not received any email for the travel fund confirmation. What is my proof that my request was granted? What document will be presented during ticketing so the travel fund be deducted from my future trip? Thanks a lot.

    • vivomigsgee

Did you request for the travel fund via website or through communication channels? If you requested it in the official website, you may check in the balance of your travel fund in the 5th tab during payment stage upon booking of flight. If it’s not visible in your account, then you have to communicate this issue to Cebu Pac via communication channels noted above. They will give feedback within 24 hours. Hope this works.

  13. arnch

Good day, My travel fund will expire December 2021 and I do not have plans of traveling yet. Can I ask for a refund of my unused travel fund? Thank you.

    • vivomigsgee

Hello Arnch, the travel fund is good for 2 years from the date granted or request successfully converted to travel fund. Travel period will be one year from the last date of expiration date.

  14. jasmin dela cruzz

Hi ask ko lang, may multiple na booking reference kasi ako , mag 6, tapos lahat yun cancelled na, ittravel refund ko sana, nakalagay kasi sa guidelines bawal daw icombined ang separate booking para maging isang travel fund, tapos kapag magbook na ulit ako gamit travel fund pano yun diba dapat laging kasama ang owner ng get go account eh may 6 tix kami so sa 6 na yun kasali owner each tix?

    • vivomigsgee

It depends. As per the new Travel Fund Policy of Cebu Pacific:

If you converted your booking to Travel Fund while logged in to your GetGo account, the amount is attached to your account. Therefore, you need to be logged in when booking a new flight. The fund can be used to book a flight for anyone in the original booking, even for new passengers added to a booking, given that the owner of the Travel Fund is also one travelers in the new booking.

If you converted your booking to Travel Fund while not logged in, the amount is attached to the passenger name/s of the original booking. The fund can be used to book a flight for anyone in the original booking, even for new passengers added to a booking, given that at least one of the passengers in the original flight is also one of theirs in the new booking.

  15. Rachel Palma

Good day, I booked a flight for my husband & his co-worker both seafarer on March 16, 2020. I was the one who paid the said ticket. But due to pandemic it was not used because of the no flight inbound & outbound during that time in Negros. They were able to go home via MALASAKIT Voyage. On February this year we converted it to travel fund. We want to use it during his flight back to Manila but upon availment, a message popped-up informing that only guests in previous booking may avail of the said travel fund. I already emailed Cebu Pac regarding this matter. Here is the reference code of the said email, REF: _006D6FFAZV_5002sDL27d:ref. Its almost two (2) weeks, but to date not even a single word from them. Hope you can help me on this. Thank you & more power.

I booked my flight in Pinoy Travel Agency and i have to cancel it as i have valid reasons. Can i refund my money and not travel fubd? Money is important than pleasure as for the current situation.

    • vivomigsgee

I guess you have to follow the rules and the recovery options of your flight booked via agency. You have to sort it out with the third party (having direct transaction), and not the airline. I hope this helps.

    • vivomigsgee

You can use it as many times as you like until the travel fund value is fully consumed. If there is a balance to be paid, you can use other options on top of the travel fund.

    • vivomigsgee

Starting July 22, 2020, the Cebu Pacific Travel Fund will be valid for two years. This can be used to book flights up to 12 months ahead, for as long as the transaction is made before the Travel Fund’s expiration. Potentially, this means that customers can use their Travel Funds and fly in 2023. For customers with existing Travel Funds, the two-year validity will be applied retroactively, or from the date the fund was created.
